EDUCATION

Since our founding in 2012, The Japanese Tea Ceremony Club at Penn State is dedicated to promoting Japanese culture through tea ceremony and the surrounding arts. We host weekly lectures for students and the public to learn about tea and Japanese culture, with topics ranging from Japanese traditional food to architecture and to the evolution of tea ceremony over the centuries.

We also are honored to host instructors from the Eastern Omotesenke Domonkai and Mrs. Morgan Beard of the Philadelphia Urasenke Tankokai. These instructors with over 20 years of experience provide in-person lessons at the Penn State community several times a month over the Fall and Spring semesters. We receive funding through the University Park Allocation Committee to make these lessons free to all.
